boring
I'm starting to live my life
the way I can
and I've been called
a lot
boring?
I cringe,
I sigh,
boring?
can make
a heart stop
I'm starting to live my life
the way I can
and I've been called
a lot
boring?
oh, yes
the agony
the harmony
I have fought
boring?
you
boring?
are
boring?
all
boring?
the
boring?
same
boring?
I have thought

I'm starting to live my life
the way I can
and I've been called
a lot
boring?
I laugh
I lie
boring?
while I
keep
my eye
on the
clock
boring

sometimes. boring

sometimes I. boring

sometimes I like. boring

sometimes I like to. boring

sometimes I like to make. boring

sometimes I like to make my. boring

sometimes I like to make my bed. boring

sometimes I like to make my bed, . boring

sometimes I like to make my bed, then. boring

sometimes I like to make my bed, then read. boring

You Move A Lot

He was unimpressed with the choices I'd made
I was lying in the sun he was lying in the shade
leaving in the morning for New Mexico
I couldn't take a winter with too much snow

I was lending my feet to the southwest shores
I thought a lot about it, never been there before
He didn't want to be left behind

I said the truth is baby that the weather here is fine

You think a lot when you're twenty years old
I can give you my heart, can't give you my soul
Yeah you think a lot when you're twenty years old
I can give you my heart, can't give you my soul

I was drinking wine he was drinking gin
and I knew the situation that I'd got myself in
I told him right there by the riverside
as I saw the brown darken in his eyes

He picked at the grass and started to say
you can't keep living your life this way
you go out traveling all the time
not thinking about your future
with me in mind

Yeah you love a lot when you're twenty years old
I can give you my heart, can't give you my sould
You love a lot when you're twenty years old
I can give you my heart, can't give you my soul

So I said goodbye with my feet not my words,
and I can't help thinking that he might of over heard
I got holes that I need to fill
now I can't move forward by sitting still
Women like me they understand
how good feet feel on changing land

You move a lot when you're twenty years old
I can give you my heart, can't give you my soul
Yeah you move a lot when you're twenty years old
I can give you my heart, can't give you my soul

Nineteen Year Old Blues

I got the nineteen year old blues
I can smoke my cigarettes
but I can't buy my own booze

and I know why
my big brother he'll buy and buy

So I was riding in my car, and,
riding shotgun was my herbal mason jar
whats wrong with that?
homegrown blend matter of fact

I probably should have been going
just a little more slow
and theres a cop, hey,
what do you know
he pulls me over

....good thing I was sober

May I see your license and registration please?
I handed both documents over to him
with such gentle ease
he said whats that smell?

...mother nature can't you tell?

he set off on the marijuana illegal rant
and I said thank you sir
i'm going home to water my plants
cause I live in America
and I was taught not to be scared of ya

I got the nineteen year old blues
I can roll my own joints
but I can't buy my own booze

and I know why
my big brother he'll buy and buy

A chemistry book taught me
how to make my own wine
and though I can't consume it
i'm still feeling fine

And if a scientist can genetically alter
the food I ingest and if the national
government can shut down a forest
without a protest
we got bigger problems on our hands,
export your business to a foreign land

I got the nineteen year old blues
I can shoot a gun but I can't
buy my own booze

I was walking through down town memphis
had my guitar for a gig
and hey what do you know
the bouncer won't let me in
he said wheres your ID?

....fake one or real one, which you wanna see?

I got that nineteen year old blues
I can sing in bars
and I get free booze

And I know why
age can't determine if you're wise.

I Got A Man

I got a man
he pay all my bills
he hold me and he love me
till the river run still
oh yeah

I got a man
he scrub my dishes clean
he love me when I'm nice
lord he love me when I'm mean
oh yeah

Oh Oh Oh Yeah
Oh Oh Oh Oh

I got a man
he play bass guitar
he build me a house
lord he fix my car
oh yeah

I got a man
he drink the finest wine
even when he's busy
he still finds time
oh yeah, oh yeah

I was nineteen he was twenty nine
when we stole kisses on the Mississippi Line

took me to New Orleans
purples, golds, greens
showed me colors that I never have seen

I got a man
crazy as a bat
he sing me sweet songs
by the railroad tracks
oh yeah

I got a man
been all round' the world
at the end of the day
I'm still his girl
oh yeah

I was nineteen he was twenty nine
when we stole kisses on the Mississippi Line

took me to New Orleans
purples, golds, greens
showed me colors that I never have seen

Oh Oh Oh Yeah
Oh Oh Oh Oh

love in the afternoon

I wake up in the morning, I am cold

I go to sleep at night, I am colder.

sometimes,
I boil water for tea
and don't drink it

I go to sleep at night,

I am colder.

A Bitter Perfume

The perfume of the sea is a bitter one
that of the salt, that of the sun

sweet like wine
burn like scotch

tossed upon the sand
tossed upon the rocks

oh but the man she loves
wears it in his hair
leaves when the wind is rough
leaves when the wind is fair

sleeps by her side, in the wildness of the night
with that lingering smell
comfortable and light

she listens for his engine
rumble home in the afternoon,
for a woman knows her sea mans humble tune
just as she knows

that bitter perfume

The Inconvenience Of Selling It To The Sea

There's a full moon rising over Sagadahoc Bay
you swear to god you love him more then yesterday
the tide is going out, you're taking off your shoes
you've realized that you have everything to lose

you walk on to the flats, look up to the sky
Seguin smiles cause she catches that twinkle in your eye
whatchu gonna do?
You close your eyes cause you don't know what to say
you don't know the price you may have to pay

you sold your soul long ago
to the salty waves and the easterly wind that blows
now you want it back
you've came to retrieve it, to give it to a man
who treats you nice who wants to take your hand

the sky she blows black, the gulls they start to cry
you know how many women like you have tried?
you're a smart girl, we know you understand
time and tide will never wait on a man
